Suur Munamägi, at 318.1 m the highest point in the Baltic countries, is a hill in
the central part of the Haanja Uplands in the southeast Estonian Võru county. An observation
tower was built on the hill in 1925 to permit splendid views of Haanja's picturesque
undulating landscape. The present tower, with the floor of its observation platform at
29.1 m above the ground, was opened in 1939 and renovated in 1969.
