125 years ago, in 1874, The Universal Postal Union
(UPU) was founded on the initiative Heinrich von Stephani Postmaster General of Germany, to go-ordinate the postal services of
different countries. The UPU became a specialized agency of the
United Nations on 1 July 1948. The postal services of its 189 member countries form the
largest physical distribution network in the world.
Estonia became UPU member in 1922.
