Biography

Andres Uibo was born in 1956. In 1981 he graduated from the Tallinn Conservatoire receiving the diploma of organist, conductor and music teacher. He studied organ with Professor H. Lepnurm and conducting with Professor L. Verlin.
He has participated in numerous summer-courses and master classes for organists led by M. Slechta, L. Krämer, H. Haselböck, J. L. G. Uriol, L. Celeghin and T. Koopman. Beginning from 1980 he has been giving regular organ recitals in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, in almost all the organ cities of the former Soviet Union, also in Italy, Germany, Austria, Holland, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Norway. In 1992 and 1996 he participated in the International Organ Festival in Tokyo.
Andres Uibo has undertaken a great task of introducing Estonian music in abroad. He has proof-read and edited all works for organ by Estonian composer Artur Kapp, recently published by German firm ERES. His book "Estonian Organs" has earned a lot of acclaim
At the present Andres Uibo is concert-organist at the St. Nicholas Church in Tallinn. He has released four CDs. He received the Annual Prizes of the Estonian Cultural Foundation for 1990 and Eesti Kultuurkapital for 1994 and 1999.
In 1992 - 1994 he improved his skills at the Lübeck Music Academy with Professor Hans Gebhard, having won the scholarship from the City of Lübeck.
Tallinn Organ Festivals take place regularly since 1987 on the initiative and under the management of Andres Uibo.
Since 1994, Andres Uibo is a Professor at the Estonian Academy of Music and from year 1996, also manager-producer at the concert agency Eesti Kontsert.
