Welcome to the official site of the 5th Youth Draughts Olympiad.

Dear draughts players and people interested in draughts

Draughts in Estonia has been international in many ways. Firstly, several international competitions have been held in Estonia and secondly, a number of Estonian draughts players have received good results at international competitions. Estonia has had the aspiration to become a high-level and competent draughts country, which would be known as a good organiser as well as a strong competitor.

This year the most important event taking place in Estonia is the Youth Draughts Olympiad. Young people are the ones being active tomorrow, they will achieve good results and win medals. Youth athletics has to be supported and this has been one of the most significant priorities of the World Draughts Federation and Estonian Draughts Federation.

This year the Estonian Draughts Federation will also organise the international championship tournament “Tallinn 2003”, which is an important event for Estonian draughts as well as Estonian sports as a whole. Champions will guide the young players, where to move on and where to strive in the future. I believe that both of these important events improve our draughts life and strengthen the position of Estonian draughts on the world map.
