Six-year-old Emma Stamp knew exactly what to do when she found her mother lying motionless on the kitchen floor.
She dialled 999 and gave clear details to Gloucestershire ambulance service.
Her mother Sarah had fainted at their home in Cam.
The ambulance crew was there within six minutes thanks to Emma's actions.
'Calm and clear'
Emma found her mother on the floor while the family were getting ready for breakfast and she went to fetch her brother William age four.
"We both went back into the kitchen and were shaking mummy on the leg.
"She woke up and she said 'Emma go and get the phone'.
"I got it and I rang 999."
The ambulance service have praised Emma for the calm and clear way in which she explained what was wrong and gave her name and address.
Emma let the ambulance crew in and helped look after William and her baby brother Thomas, age five months.
Special party
Her mother said: "I am very proud of her and she's a real credit to us all.
"The situation could have been a lot worse especially with a young baby in the house.
"It's a good job Emma remembered what she had to do in an emergency."
Gloucestershire ambulance service is launching a new first aid handbook aimed at teaching children what to do when faced with an emergency.
For Emma there was a mention in school assembly and a special party at home.
