| V SLEEPWALKERS’ STUDENTS FILM FESTIVAL This is the fifth Sleepwalkers’ Students Film Festival (SW) with the objective of making the short films by international film students available for young Estonian audience. Albeit we target Estonian film students, we have invited young authors from all-over the globe every year. That is mainly to add to the internationality of the festival. The Festival consists of a competition programme, a special programme and a film school. The Festival jury is international, with up to five members of which one must be one of the leading local filmmakers. The films compete in three categories: feature, documentary and animation films. The special award, Most Outstanding SW Festival Film Grand Prix, is also granted by the festival jury. The SW is looking for new talents, young directors, for filmmmakers, who are original and supplied with fresh ideas. Compared to the previous years, we want to shift towards wider public range, i.e. we need to enlarge our advertising target groups. On the other hand we have made concessions to the festival programme, accepting some popular films for the competition programme. Neverthless, the standards of the festival must not be altered by these amendments. This year the SW festival will be housed by the cinema theatre ‘Sõprus’ because the technical equipment of Kinomaja is unsatisfactory. The other reason is that Kinomaja cafè was closed down, reducing Kinomaja’s value as a festival centre. Mind knows that sleeping merely regains strength, what feeds one is a film.
