The Ministry of Social Affairs is the main political and administrative authority in the area of working environment.
Department of Working Environment was founded on the 1 of April, 1997.


After reorganisation on the 1 of January, 2004 was founded Working Environment Unit of Labour Department.

Working Environment Unit is responsible for the co-ordination and management of the activities in the field of occupational health and safety

For the implementation of the national working environment policy,

  Working Environment Unit:

       - elaborates national legal acts on occupational safety and health;     

       - organises the tripartite consultations in Working Environment Council;

       - plans and co-ordinates elaboration of the training and development
         programmes in the field of working environment.
