TµEE co.(TM) Alien Killer: Time to Kick some alien ass(TM) DEMO version 0.1 Horizontally and smoothly scrolling alien killing game that uses only QB 4.5 standard library and about 160 bytes of assembly to do double buffering, get more speed and transparent colors. Because of the double buffer you need extra 64KB of memory and you'll never see any kind of flickering !!! I don't use BMPs because these files are real-pain-in- the-ass to load and TGF takes up less space. I don't use BSAVEd format because BSAVE format is not so flexible as TGF format and TGFs load almost as fast as BSAVE with my small directly-into-PUT-array routine. First you have to wait like crazy (loading and initializing), second you still wait like crazy because it takes almost 1 second to load in and display one frame of full-motion video and third you really don't want to play this game when you can see only 4 frames per second !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MMX CPUs are 20% faster (even if MMX is not used) than non-MMX CPUs. If possible get a MMX CPU (pentium MMX, pentium II and higher CPUs have MMX). 386 tpye CPU is required because this game uses 386 a instruction (MOVSD) and no check for 386 is performed, so if you run this game on a 286 then you probably crash your system or even manage to damage it. If you have a 2-button joystick/gamepad then throw it out and download "How to build your own 4-button gamepad..." from my web-site. 2-button hardware is not supported !!! I built my own gamepad and it works fine with Windows and DOS programs, only restriction is gameport which is beginning to die out. Yamaha YMF719 or any other OPL3-SA card is preferred for its superior sound quality and performance. YMF719 is the best choice because of it's YMERSION capability (really wide HARDWARE 3D stereo that makes HRTF sound very poor). You can use command line switches. Type the program name and /? or -? to see the list of available command line switches. I'm 16 (2006) and I have programmed less than a year in QB or any other language and look/enjoy/run these nice pieces of software I have created (Alien Killer, TGFedit, TµEE co.(TM) speech synthesizer and many more) !!! If you bug me enough by sending me E-Mails where you write your comments and "WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE THE FINAL VERSION OF ALIEN KILLER ???" , then I'll start working on it right away and after a few weeks (I hope - it is very hard to make good background music, stages, videos, new graphics) the final version will be released !!! NOTE: To estimate the size of the final version you must multiply the size of the demo version with TWENTY !!!
