The first trolleybus-line Theatre "Estonia" – Hippodrome was opened in 1965. Now there are eight lines, No. 1-7 and 9. There were nine lines in Tallinn and also plans of opening the tenth between Õismäe and Mustamäe but unfortunatelly since the 1st of April in 2000 line No. 8 Väike-Õismäe – Vabaduse Square was replaced by bus-line No. 22.

In the mean while there was a danger of closing two other Väike-Őismäe lines, No. 6 and 7, read about it here.

Trolleybus-lines are connecting western parts of town with center and main railway station and also Mustamäe with Kopli. Trolleybuses are operating in Mustamäe, Lilleküla, Õismäe, Veskimetsa, Mustjõe, Merimetsa, Kopli, Pelgulinna, Kelmiküla and Tõnismäe areas. There is one depot (on Paldiski Road by Lille stop) and three terminus stations – in Mustamäe, Õismäe and on Keskuse street. The terminus-stops are near Kaubamaja (Department Store, since it was the one and only in soviet times it is called so even today when there are plenty of big DS in Tallinn), theatre "Estonia", Baltic Railway station and by the terminus station of trams in Kopli.

More information is available at the homepage of Tallinn Tram and Trolleybus Company (TTTK) and at (in Estonian only).
