  2. Introduction
NGO "Hingerahu" started its work in autumn 1995 with three persons. 11 July 1996 this union was officially registered and had 12 members then. The union concentrates people who care about mental health and mental balance. These people are supporting and helping each other and they`re learning how to do it in the best way.

  3. Things we`ve done
In the beginning for two years we met once a month because we didn`t have meeting place and funds to organize events. We acted with good will.

From 1998 to 1999 "Hamlet Trust" from London supported us. They allocated facilities for hiring rooms and organizing events. Thanks them we could develop and rise. There were 21 members in our union and we were very active.

The union was a place where the people with the same problems met whence they got moral support and help and where they accomplished theirselves in interested groups. So members achieved mental balance through relations with each other. The result - convalescence of the soul.

We have involved in international training programs which were organized by Finnish Federation of Mental Health Unions, "Hamlet Trust" and Pärnu County Government. Since November 1997 our union has been a member of the Pärnu County Chamber for Disabled People. NGO "Hingerahu" is a founder member of Estonian Mental Health Association (EMHA) since 1998. The chairwoman of NGO "Hingrahu" - Maimu Kaasik was the president of the EMHA.

NGO "Hingerahu" has participated from the Network of European Mental Health Unions. Conferences of this network were held in London 1997 and in Luxemburg 1999. There was formed a global organisation of mental health unions in Vancouver, Canada on 21 July 2001. Our union was invited to this conference too but because of absence of funds we didn`t participate from it. NGO "Hingerahu" has had contacts with Germany, Lithuania, the Ukraine, Russia and the Netherlands.

  4. The Future
Our union was at a low ebb in 2000 because the leader of the union was working abroad 6 months and the union didn`t work well. In 2001 a lot of new persons joined with us. Now are all members active and interested in development of the union. We have great plans - we want our Own House. We wrote a project to "Hamlet Trust" - we want to begin growing herbalists - bated aid through herbs. We`re looking for funders for Own House. This Own House would be a meetingplace for all mental health users (~2000 people) in Pärnu.
